With a non-stop flurry of engineering demands and design simulations, SportPesa Racing Point’s facility in Silverstone, UK, the workflow is as demanding — and rewarding — as the race itself. Engineers have four key tools at their disposal: wind tunnels, clusters that simulate the car’s aerodynamics, systems that simulate the tires’ performance, and full car simulators that take the information from the car models and turn them into a simulation that allows drivers to witness how changes to the car might turn out on the course.
There are many rules and regulations that govern when, how and what is being tested. SportPesa Racing Point uses Univa Grid Engine to support the tight timelines of their engineering design simulations, which are critical to the engineering team, and continual efforts to improve racing performance. Univa Grid Engine ensures that the correct simulations are running at the same time while providing more efficient use of applications and a quick turnaround of work throughput.
