When it comes to cycling, one might not equate it to high performance computing. However, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of bicycles, Trek, utilizes Univa’s Grid Engine – Container Edition to assist with their modeling. Trek’s engineers regularly perform a large number of computational fluid dynamics simulations to design their aerodynamic bikes.
Trek recently incorporated containers to increase efficiency of their workflow and believe it has been a “game changer” for their R&D teams. Mio Suzuki, the company’s lead analysis engineer, said, “The process of moving from the first on-site environment to the current model of using resources on demand and with software that is quickly portable and easy to deploy speeds Trek’s development times.”
