Univa Collaborates with Azure to Offer Cloud Computing Power On Demand
Univa announced today that it is now offering support for Microsoft Azure, enabling the creation by Univa customers of dynamic clusters on demand, in the cloud.
The Univa product suite features the Univa Grid Engine resource manager, a proven, powerful and integrated workload utilization solution for dynamically shared enterprise clusters, and the new Univa Grid Engine Container Edition product, which fully incorporates Docker containers into Univa Grid Engine.
Azure, Microsoft’s open and flexible cloud computing platform, is a growing collection of integrated services—analytics, computing, database, mobile, networking, storage and web. Working with existing IT, it delivers greater productivity and reduces costs.
“With Azure, Microsoft makes it easy for Univa customers to run true performance applications on demand in a cloud environment,” said Bill Bryce, Univa Vice President of Products. “With the power of Microsoft Azure, Univa Grid Engine makes work management automatic and efficient and accelerates the deployment of cloud services. In addition, Univa solutions can run in Azure and schedule work in a Linux cluster built with Azure virtual machines.
“Univa’s decision to include support for Microsoft Azure is great news for our mutual customers. Univa is ideal for Azure customers who would benefit from an advanced workload management and scheduling solution,” said Nicole Herskowitz, senior director of product marketing, Microsoft Azure. “We are delighted that Univa solutions are now available for use with the Azure platform.”
“Univa is supporting Microsoft Azure because it allows us to now utilize the unique Azure capabilities—true performance capabilities in the cloud, on demand,” Bryce continued. “By making use with the Microsoft Azure platform a reality, Univa is satisfying customer demand for top performance at a competitive price. It allows customers to maximize use of computing resources, increasing cost-effectiveness.”
