Univa is pleased to announce that we have joined the Open Container Initiative (OCI). The OCI is an open governance structure for the express purpose of creating open industry standards around container formats and runtime.
“Building on our founding role in the Cloud Native Computing Foundation; we are pleased to now participate in defining common standards for the underlying containers.” said Gary Tyreman, CEO of Univa.
The OCI is a broad coalition of industry leaders and managed under the Linux Foundation. The organization will focus on promoting a set of common, minimal, open standards and specifications around container technology.
“We are pleased to have a performance computing and orchestration industry veteran like Univa joining the Open Container Initiative,” said Jim Zemlin, executive director, The Linux Foundation. “The breadth and quality of industry participants will allow for the building of a vendor-neutral, portable and open specification and runtime that delivers on the promise of containers.”
